Bookseller & Digital Marketing Associate

Rizzoli Bookstore is seeking a passionate and creative Bookseller & Digital Marketing Associate to join our team. The ideal candidate thrives at the intersection of literary and digital culture, with a deep love for books and a strong grasp of content creation that resonates across platforms like Instagram and TikTok.

This role blends bookselling and customer service with digital marketing and content creation, making it ideal for someone with excellent communication skills and a background in arts and culture. Additional knowledge of architecture, interior design, and fashion is a plus.

Responsibilities

In-Store Responsibilities (Bookseller):

• Assist customers with book recommendations, inquiries, and purchases.
• Process transactions at the register and provide excellent customer service.
• Maintain store organization, restock shelves, and support inventory management.
• Assist with merchandising and in-store displays.
• Participate in store events, including book signings and author talks.
• Confidently handle phone inquiries and customer requests.
• Perform physical tasks such as shelving books, lifting boxes, and standing for the duration of the shift.

Digital Marketing Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute Rizzoli Bookstore’s social media strategy across Instagram, Facebook & TikTok.
• Create engaging multimedia content, including posts, graphics, and videos, that align with our brand identity.
• Manage content scheduling and community engagement, responding to comments and messages.
• Plan and execute social media campaigns for store promotions, cultural moments, and partnerships (e.g., Black History Month, Banned Books Week).
• Develop digital promotions and partnerships to engage and grow our audience.
• Monitor and analyze campaign performance, leveraging insights to refine strategies.
• Stay up to date on digital marketing trends, social media best practices, and emerging platforms.

Requirements

• Must be enthusiastic about the value of literary digital content as a means of building community.

• Proficiency in social media tools (e.g., Sprout Social, Canva, Hootsuite) and major platforms.

• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

• Knowledge of books, literature, and the publishing industry is a plus.

• Comfortable using both PC and Mac.

• Bookstore or publishing experience preferred.

• Ability to multitask and adapt to a fast-paced retail and digital environment.

• Weekend and evening availability is required.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This position involves manual labor, including shelving books, lifting boxes, and standing for extended periods.

This is a 40 hours, full-time, position reporting to the Store Manager. Benefits include health insurance, paid vacation and sick time, and company holidays. Pay: $18.00 per hour.
