Associate National Accounts Manager

Candlewick Press is seeking an Associate National Account Manager to join our Retail Sales team, supporting the National Account Manager to the Mass Market Channel. The candidate should be an enthusiastic and driven individual who is an analytical thinker with a keen eye for detail with a proven track record for understanding sales data. An interest in/passion for children's books and new technologies is a plus.

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Support the National Account Manager in the day-to-day management of the Mass Market channel, working with Readerlink, the Mass Market's primary distributor. Identify and pitch key title opportunities, strategize and execute sales initiatives, and analyze title performance to inform future pitches and promotions.
  • Understand and respond to the various needs of key retailers that fall under the Mass Market umbrella: Target, Walmart, Wholesale Clubs, airport stores, and a wide variety of regional and national drugstore and grocery chains. Communicate with relevant internal and external parties to resolve any issues with order fulfillment that may arise.
  • Become an expert on external retailer portals in order to regularly run reports, upload assets, complete data analysis, market share intelligence, title activation, and assist with identifying inventory stock-up recommendations and reports on title trends.
  • Assist in preparation for sell-in appointments by creating Edelweiss collections, PowerPoint presentations, and Excel grids, running reports, and gathering materials for sales kits.
  • Assist in maintaining internal tracking grids and perform analysis to identify successful title promotions that can be repeated.
  • Attend and participate in meetings with the ability to share ideas and opportunities to grow the business

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years prior publishing sales, marketing, or business development experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interact with colleagues across all levels of an organization.
  • Highly comfortable working with numbers and analyzing data.
  • Ability and interest in learning new technologies.
  • Experience with MS Office - strong proficiency with Excel a plus.
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines on multiple projects with attention to detail.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities and generate solutions in a fast-paced environment.

This is a full-time position based in Somerville, MA or New York, NY with the option for hybrid work.
