Merchandising Inventory Manager

Position: Full-Time
As Merchandising Inventory Manager for RJ Julia Booksellers’ Buying Department, you will be responsible for the management of the Buying Team for all locations and the day-to-day management of the Madison store’s trade book inventory, including creating and maintaining timely displays and signage.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and technology skills are required, with an emphasis on maintaining the standard of excellence unique and customary to RJ Julia Booksellers. Candidates should thrive in a fast-paced retail environment.
This full-time job requires the ability to act independently and a full commitment to driving the results of the business and high standards of achievement.
Responsibilities:
- Management of the buying department team including hiring as needed and overseeing schedules. Management also includes collaborating with the buying team to achieve sales goals, inventory turns, and inventory balance.
- Replenishment of adult books based on daily/weekly sales at our Madison location.
- Develop merchandising plans and maintain the store's appearance; execute merchandising plans that drive sales and maximize profitability.
- Create visually appealing displays that enhance the overall shopping experience for our customers.
- Prepare administrative and operational reports. Compile data for end-of-month/year-end reporting. Analyze sales data. Research trends.
- Work with the store's Leadership Team to set strategies and goals.
Required Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of retail operations, merchandising, and customer behavior.
- Proven work experience in inventory management.
- Strong problem-solving, innovation, and time-management skills.
- Creative mindset with the ability to develop innovative and effective merchandising and promotion strategies.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines; prioritize deadlines appropriately.
- Ability to lead a team.
- Passion for retail and a customer-centric mindset. Familiarity with the overall business of book publishing a plus.
