Chronicle Books is seeking a highly motivated National Account Manager to drive sales growth and brand awareness and increase product visibility for Books and Paper/Gifts at Barnes & Noble, Paper Source and other key accounts. This role manages all aspects of the key accounts, requiring a deep understanding of the book retail landscape, proven sales skills, and strong analytical abilities.
The National Account Manager will serve as the primary point of contact for Barnes & Noble and other key accounts, fostering productive and positive relationships with account stakeholders and developing and executing tailored account plans. They will sell frontlist book titles via Edelweiss, participate in seasonal previews, and conduct regular sell-in appointments with the gift and paper teams. Collaboration with frontlist buyers, conducting regular business reviews, presenting sales data, and liaising with internal teams (editorial, marketing, production) will also be part of this position. The National Account Manager will provide detailed sales analysis, analyze POS data and market trends, and participate in internal meetings, offering feedback and representing account perspectives to various departments.
Job Requirements: Applicants will need a minimum of 5 years’ sales or account management experience, preferably in book publishing or a related industry. They are required to have an advanced proficiency in sales tools, including Salesforce and Edelweiss, with expertise in sales tracking, forecasting, and data analysis. Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills with a proven ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment is also essential for this job. The ideal candidate will have experience in book publishing, a track record of achieving sales targets, and the ability to forge and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders.
Hiring Salary Range: $68,000-$78,200. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the expected salary for this position and will be determined by factors including, but not limited to, an applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and geographic location as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. This position is eligible for our profit share plan and also participates in a sales bonus plan.

Schedule: Employees at Chronicle Books follow a regular hybrid schedule in our New York City office of at least three (3) in-office days per week and up to five (5) in-office days per week, depending on project and business needs.
