Overview:
The Business Operations Analyst is responsible for the cross-functional management and administration of resources for the Ohio State University Press, including but not limited to, finance, processes and operations, human capital, facilities, systems, and communication. The Business Operations Analyst gathers and analyzes data to monitor and improve performance and reinforce strategic decision making. They are responsible for executing the strategy with business resources. They manage relationships within the organization and, at times, relationships with peer institutions or community organizations. This role manages business operations and provides guidance in financial reporting, budgeting, expense control, and revenue enhancement. The Analyst supports the Director of the Ohio State University Press by ensuring sound financial management through effective budgeting and forecasting, as well as conducting regular financial reporting and analysis.
Responsibilities include tracking financial commitments, initiating and at times overseeing fiscal processing (including procurement and travel), and completing monthly reconciliations of HR and fiscal transactions. They collaborate with HR to address staffing needs and support the onboarding of new hires. The Analyst serves as the Cost Center Manager, advising faculty, staff, and students on policies and procedures, and ensuring the reconciliation of The Ohio State University Press ledgers. They implement university and financial policies, initiates and may approve transactions, and serve as a liaison for external grants, managing budget preparation and account maintenance. The Business Operations Analyst resolves operational issues and meets performance goals and benchmarks to promote growth and efficiency within the Ohio State University Press.
Additionally, the Analyst supports the press Director by:
- Completing quarterly and annual financial reporting to Association of University Presses.
- Provides Journals Office with quarterly and annual distribution payments.
- Aids Press staff with conference exhibit agreements and contracts.
- Produces conference exhibit sales reports and processes conference books orders.
- Processes author royalty payments annually, including entering contract information throughout the year, updating author contact information in various databases, and obtaining required forms for payments.
- Serves as procurement card manager and equipment coordinator.
- Serves as liaison with Press's outside distribution center, as well as College of Arts and Sciences and various central university departments.
- Submits supplies and services orders and processes incoming and outgoing mail when necessary.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience; minimum of 2 years of relevant business operations experience. Experience using in MS Excel. Demonstrated knowledge of accounting principles and applications. Experience with financial reconciliation.
Desired Qualifications: Proficiency with Workday; experience in managing budgets. Knowledge of university policies, rules, and regulations (especially related to fiscal responsibilities), and experience in the book business.
The pay range for this job profile is $55,100 - $72,400. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
