Marketing and Sales Operations Manager
Position: Full-Time, Remote

Steerforth & Pushkin Press are looking for an analytical innovator to join our growing team. This exciting US-based position will work closely alongside Steerforth’s fully remote team, Pushkin Press’s London office, and our sales and distribution colleagues at Penguin Random House (PRH), offering an opportunity to work across Steerforth’s growing nonfiction list as well as Pushkin’s fiction, nonfiction, classics, crime, and children’s lists.
Strong candidates will have excellent communication and organizational skills, a keen attention to detail, and an energetic, self-motivated approach to work. This role will have responsibility for managing the flow of information between Steerforth, Pushkin, and our PRH sales teams, while also encouraging strong relationship-building and providing sales and marketing expertise.
ROLE OVERVIEW:
This role reports to: Sales and Marketing Director
Salary: $60,000-80,000 plus benefits
Location: This is a remote role, with the expectation of travel to occasional conferences and in-person meetings with the US teams--for this, preference will be given to candidates working in the New England area and New York; as the role also requires regular communication with a team based in the UK, candidates should expect to start work from 9:00 AM ET.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Sales Operations
- Manage PRH title load, metadata & materials for all titles; ensure metadata is correct and optimized for key accounts
- Update TIs, comps, and general copy as required
- Assist with conference preparation, including internal and PRH sales meetings
- Oversight and administration of Edelweiss account, including DRC management
Marketing
- Manage the marketing warehouse materials, arranging allocations and mailings
- Generate collateral and sell sheets for Library, Educational, and Special Markets Divisions
- Coordinate with editors/authors for their production of author video introductions
- Coordinate the production of reading group guides as appropriate for select titles
- Administer metadata for Amazon account, including updates and corrections
Library, Educational, and Special Markets Divisions
- Create seasonal marketing plans, identifying key titles for PRH outreach and providing supporting content
- Research, propose, and attend virtual and in-person library conferences and publisher showcases; manage / attend ALA annual conference
- Implement tagging on the PRH Higher and Secondary Education Website to enable course adoption link selection
- Identify and engage with promotional opportunities across all sales platforms, including non-book retail accounts, catalogue, museum, national park, and subscription boxes
- Work closely with our PRH sales teams to further develop our relationships with accounts
Ebook and backlist Marketing management
- Oversee backlist sales priority lists and targeted backlist promo outreach for digital and print via the PRH Backlist Marketing team
- Work with PRH to grow Ebook and online backlist sales, including Kindle/Prime Day and Apple deal nominations
- Pursue new marketing initiatives in other channels and markets as needed, including Bookshop.org
QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:
- Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent experience, plus at least 2+ years publishing experience
- An energetic and self-motivated approach to work, with the ability to learn and proactively solve problems, working both independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication, follow-up, and organizational skills; ability to prioritize, multitask, and excel in a dynamic environment across multiple teams.
- Comfortable participating and potentially presenting at meetings and industry events, fostering strong relationships with colleagues, reps, and accounts.
- Keen attention to detail; experience with data management and/or PRH title load preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
- Employment eligibility to work with Steerforth in the US.
