The Crime Writers Association announced winners in nine categories for the 2018 Dagger Awards in London last week at a gala dinner. Steve Cavanagh's The Liar won the Gold Dagger for best crime novel of the year, and Lola by Melissa Scrivner Love won the John Creasey (New Blood) Dagger for best crime novel by a first-time author. As announced earlier this year, Michael Connelly won the Diamond Dagger, which recognizes "authors whose crime writing careers have been marked by sustained excellence, and who have made a significant contribution to the genre."
