Early this month, Rachel DeWoskin, author and former star of the Chinese soap opera Foreign Babes in Beijing, visited China, where she read from her latest YA novel, Someday We Will Fly (Viking Books for Young Readers), about a Jewish refugee in Shanghai during World War II, and did a history walk around the Jewish ghetto in Shanghai. One of her readings was at the Bookworm bookstore in Beijing, where China's biggest rock star, Cui Jian, was in attendance. At the Bookworm: (from l.)
