White Birch Books, North Conway, N.H., hosted an event at the Pope Memorial Library for Dan Simon, founder and editor-in-chief of Seven Stories Press, whose debut novel, Ashland, was published by Europa Editions, and is set in Ashland, N.H. Simon was in conversation with Shannon Bowring, author of In a Distant Valley, the last title in her Dalton trilogy, published by Europa Editions last fall. Bowring's trilogy is set in the fictional town of Dalton, Maine, inspired by the town she grew up in, Ashland, Maine--a town that, as the authors showed, shares many similarities with Ashland, N.H.
