Birch Tree Books & Plants will be expanding its store in Leesburg, Va., this fall with a short move to 9 West Market St., next door to its current, smaller space. Leah Fallon opened the bookstore as a pop-up in 2021 before quickly finding shared space at Cowbell Kitchen on King St. In 2022, she opened a standalone store at 11 Market St., which also featured the Foliage Plant Shop, owned by Ami Mason.
In a social media post last week, Fallon and Mason wrote: "From our very first farmer's market pop up, we knew that being an integral part of our community would be the most important aspect of our shop. Books unite us, encourage us to have big conversations, and force us to think outside the boxes we're so often stuck in.
"Six years later, with Foliage Plant Shop right alongside us, we're thrilled to announce that we're moving! Again! Between our 15 book clubs and amazing community partners, we've outgrown our current space and are thrilled to be able to expand... right next door!
"Starting next month, we're transforming 9 West Market Street into the same bookstore and plant shop you know and love, just with even more space for books, plants, book clubs, author events, plant workshops, and more. We'll keep you posted on our progress, and can't wait to open our new doors in October."
