Broom Book & Candle, a horror-focused bookstore, wine bar, and cafe, will open in Denver, Colo., this fall, WhatNow Denver reported.

Store co-founders Amanda Shafer and KJ Brantley are running a crowdfunding campaign to help them open the store at 482 S. Broadway. The Kickstarter has a goal of $25,000, and has raised nearly $18,400, with three days left to go. Money raised will go toward fixtures, shelving, lighting, opening inventory, permits, and other start-up costs. Rewards include T-shirts, candles, tickets to a pre-opening party, themed photo shoots, and more.
Brantley and Shafer plan to carry a variety of horror fiction and adjacent genres, including as speculative fiction, dark fantasy, thrillers, and weird lit. Alongside books, there will be merchandise and gift items, as well as a subscription box service. Among the owners' event plans are author readings, storytime sessions, workshops, book clubs, horror film screenings, and craft sessions, and there will be an author-in-residence program created in partnership with the Women in Horror Media and Arts Association.
The store's marquee event will be an annual summer camp experience for horror fans called Creepaway Camp, which will offer book fairs, horror author panels, nightly campfire stories, slasher movie screenings, and writing workshops, alongside classic summer camp activities like swimming, hiking, and archery.
