The shortlist has been selected for the £10,000 (about $13,210) Goldsmiths Prize, which celebrates "creative daring" by rewarding "fiction that breaks the mold or extends the possibilities of the novel form." It is sponsored by Goldsmiths University and the New Statesman. The winner will be named November 4. This year's shortlisted titles are:
