Cooper's Prose Booksellers will make its debut as a mobile bookstore in Starkville, Miss., in the months ahead, the Dispatch reported.
Built out of a 7×16-foot trailer, Cooper's Prose is owned by married couple Megan and Chase Cooper and sells general-interest titles for all ages. They described the bookstore as a "passion project rooted in a love of reading, accessibility, inclusivity, and the desire to wander." The mobile bookstore will make appearances around Starkville and northeast Mississippi as the couple searches for a permanent, bricks-and-mortar home for the business.
The Coopers are both Mississippi State University graduates and they decided to open a bookstore of their own after moving to Starkville last year. "When we moved back last fall, we noticed the lack of local bookstores and felt that was something that could really serve our area," Megan Cooper told the Dispatch. "We both work full time so the mobile option gives us that flexibility currently, but the long-term plan is to find a permanent space in Starkville once we're more established."
